Serve the City

Serve the City is a local movement of volunteers showing kindness and love in practical ways. We partner with local homeless shelters, foster homes, and nursing homes to offer our loving support and care.

About the Ministry

Throughout the year, we gather together as a church for a one-day event where we serve local organizations and make an incredible impact on the Boca Raton community.

We are thrilled to have the opportunity to make an impact in our community and hope you will consider participating.

Can’t Serve? Donate to the Cause.

The Diaper Bank Covering South Florida collects and distributes diapers to those who need them. Please donate diapers size newborn to 6 for babies and toddlers in need in our community.

Diaper need is the lack of a sufficient supply of diapers to keep an infant or child clean, dry, and healthy. Exposure to potential health risks exists when babies wear dirty diapers longer than they should.

Diapers cannot be obtained with food stamps and are in the same classification as cigarettes, alcohol, and pet food as disallowed purchases. In addition, low-income parents cannot take advantage of free or subsidized childcare if they cannot afford to leave disposable diapers at the childcare center.

We are excited to announce that we have partnered with the Junior League of Boca Raton’s (JLBR) Learning Libraries to host a book drive!

The JLBR Learning Libraries’ mission is to create a culture of reading that helps improve children’s literacy development. Reading is linked to improved literacy rates, language development and school performance, along with increased emotional intelligence and decreased stress in adulthood. Yet research shows that 1 in 4 children grow up without learning how to read (WriteExpress Corporation). The committee has set out to provide books to Title 1 schools throughout the Boca Raton and Delray Beach communities and our help is needed.

We are teaming up with JLBR Learning Libraries to collect new books to help build up their inventory so that they can continue providing to schools in need. Books for ages kindergarten through 5th grade have been requested. Any new elementary school level book is appreciated. There is an Amazon wish list as well:

Donations for diapers and books will be accepted at the SRC Connect Center Lobby from 8:30-10:30 a.m. on February 24th.
